About Us

What if church weren’t a product that you consume like TV but an active experience of God, and a community that needs your contributions and your perspective?

What if you didn’t have to put your life together or put on a “holy mask” before you went to church? What if church were a place where people were listened to, not preached at? A place where it was safe to share doubts, questions, struggles, and pain, along with fun and parties and relationships full of meaning, purpose, and connectedness? What if the people of the church were representatives of a God who accepts you just the way you are and invites you into a relationship with Him that is rooted in His grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love for you?

What if the message of Jesus contains very good news for each one of us about living life as we were meant to live it, instead of getting stuck in our ugly tendencies, bad habits and addictions? What if it brings something good to the lives of those who are hurting? What if it were possible to live in freedom every day, deeply connected to God in body, mind, soul, and spirit? What if the church, as a community of flawed people pursuing the way of Jesus, were a place to nurture this kind of richer, fuller life?

What if God hears the cry of the poor, cares about human suffering and injustice, and has a radical alternative dream for civilization? What if you could make a difference in our broken world as part of the family of this kind of God? What if the best way to move toward a life of generosity and service is to catch hold of the revolutionary vision of Jesus for “God’s kingdom,” in which the “least of these” in our society are put first, and to share this dream with a community?

What if the church were a place where you brought your passions, talents, and creativity—where all of your gifts could be nurtured, could flourish, and could be put to good use to serve God, to pursue Him, and to express how our community experiences Him through Christ? …

These are some of the dreams that we’re beginning to explore together. We started this church as an expression of God’s love in College Park because we were dreaming of a church for our time and place. At the center of our dreams is a person, Jesus Christ. We believe that He is the living reality of God’s love.
