Jason Mack, Pastor

Jason graduated with honors from Wesley Seminary in Washington, DC, receiving a Masters of Divinity with a Biblical Studies emphasis.

Jason has held various leadership roles in several innovative churches including Mars Hill in Seattle, Mosaic in LA and National Community Church in Washington, DC. Jason was previously pastor to young adults and college at Cedar Ridge Community Church in Burtonsville, MD, under the leadership of Brian McLaren.

Jason remains active at Wesley Seminary providing leadership and teaching in the Emerging Ministries Program which focuses on the Emerging Church, is on the board of directors for the aid orginization Kupenda for the children and is on track to be ordained as an elder in The Church of the Nazarene.

Jason lives in University Park, MD, with his wife Tara and son Ethan.

Amy Caruso, Liturgy

Amy is homegrown from Maryland. After graduating from Eastern University with a B.A. in English Creative Writing, Amy spent some time galavanting. She did Hurricane Katrina relief in Lousiana, lived at The Simple Way and then moved to the College Park to teach English at Northwestern High School.

What she found at Northwestern was that she was more drawn to the students' lives than she was drawn to teaching them literature. She has since worked for various non-profits, focusing adjusting to life in the U.S. after immigrating.

Amy loves writing and thinking about God, especially on her blog. She is actively involved in DC Area Community of Communities that comes out of the New Monasticism movement of intentional Christian communities. She currently coordinates Conspire Magazine for the group.

JenniferHowardBurns

Jennifer Burns, Pastoral Intern

Jennifer is a second year student at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, working towards a Masters of Divinity with a dual emphasis in Urban and Emerging Ministries. She is on track to be ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church (UMC). Through her emphases she hopes to further learn how to connect with and serve all God’s people where they are.

Jennifer has long been a leader in the UMC in West Ohio. She loves the denomination and its potential and work in transforming the world. She has been a representative to various boards and conferences both from her local church and annual conference. In various roles as Mission Coordinator and Children’s Ministry Director Jennifer has sought to bring people and ministries together in Christ.

As pastoral intern Jennifer is involved in all aspects of life at New Leaf Church. She particularly enjoys brainstorming possibilities and plans for worship, service, ministry, and discipleship.

Jennifer lives in Bowie, MD with her husband John a massage student at Potomac Massage Training Institute. In her free time she likes to play board games and create cross stitch.
