Our Story
New Leaf Church began as College Park Church Plant in 2006 in the living room of Pastor Jason Mack, who had just graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary and completed an internship as the pastor for young adults at Cedar Ridge Community Church.
In the two years since we formed out of a small group from Cedar Ridge, we’ve been discussing what it means to be a church following Christ, and dreaming about the kind of church we want to be. Meanwhile, we’ve been sharing life, building a foundation as a Christ-centered community, and practicing being a church that shares God’s love with all people, especially those who are suffering or marginalized. Because we want to be a place where the people are the church, we’ve been deliberate about including the whole community in church decisions.
Now, New Leaf Church is entering a new phase: we feel called, based on the gospel of Jesus, to become more intentionally invitational and to extend our welcome beyond a crowded living room and into a more public arena. We hope that your life will be enriched through your involvement here, so that together we might bring God’s hope and healing to our world.
